I used to paint people from the land over matchboxes in my childhood. I would not consider them as art, as I did not know what art was. I did not see art in a context of a gallery or museum until I was 19 years old and moved to São Paulo and visited the Museo de Arte de São Paulo, MASP. At times in my life, I paint again over matchboxes. The art material is not easily available to many, nevertheless, the impulse to create is.
